About The Habibat Project

The Habibat Project is an independent digital journalism platform dedicated to high-quality, multimedia reporting on the most pressing environmental challenges facing Africa and the world. We tell under-reported stories at the intersection of climate change, biodiversity loss, desertification, ecosystem degradation, and human communities. Through rigorous fieldwork, data-driven analysis, and expert perspectives, we illuminate how environmental crises disproportionately affect the most vulnerable populations while exploring real solutions and policy pathways.

The Habibat Project is the publication of the Center for Environmental Journalism and The Habibat Initiative for Sustainable Environment and Social Impact (THISESI), a Nigeria-based nonprofit at IT: 8189731. However, all editorial decisions are made independently by the editorial team at The Habibat Project.

Our Ultimate Mission and Activities

Our mission is to bridge the gap between complex environmental science and public understanding by producing clear, compelling, and impactful journalism. From the frontlines of the Sahel’s advancing desert to disappearing forests and threatened ecosystems, The Habibat Project brings visibility to critical stories and conversations that shape our collective future. We believe informed citizens and transparent reporting are essential to driving meaningful environmental action and accountability.
